Bill has shaped the government’s charging decisions both as the line prosecutor building a case and as the supervisor providing guidance and approvals. He joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston in 2016 and was a supervisor in its Major Crimes Unit from 2019 to 2021, overseeing prosecutions for violent crime, child exploitation, government benefits fraud, and firearms trafficking. Over more than 5 years as Criminal Chief from 2021 to 2026, Bill oversaw high-profile investigations and prosecutions involving national security, public corruption, health care fraud, investment fraud, and violent criminal enterprises. He personally prosecuted cases involving government benefits fraud, drug trafficking, gun trafficking, child exploitation, and an array of other federal crimes. Most recently, Bill prosecuted a CEO for embezzling money from a nonprofit health care provider and prosecuted a corporation in connection with a worksite accident resulting in death.

From 2012 to 2016, Bill was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the White Collar and Economic Crime Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee in Nashville, where he worked alongside Litson partners Alex Little and Brent Hannafan. He prosecuted executives for wire, bank, tax, and securities fraud, public employees for bribery, and medical providers for health care fraud and kickbacks. He tried 12 cases in Nashville, including 9 jury trials, and handled appeals before the Sixth Circuit.

Before government service, Bill spent 8 years as a litigation associate at Ropes & Gray in Boston, representing individuals and corporations in state and federal investigations, litigating civil cases in state and federal court, and maintaining an active pro bono practice. He also served as a Special Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, taught as an adjunct professor at Belmont University College of Law, and, early in his career, served as a special assistant to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.
