Alicia Van Huizen-Shinska brings a dynamic blend of legal skill, global perspective, and people-first advocacy to her work. As an attorney at Litson PLLC, Alicia represents clients in high-stakes criminal and civil litigation. She contributes to case strategy, drafts complex motions and briefs, manages discovery, and builds organized, fact-driven timelines that strengthen client defenses.

Alicia earned her J.D. from Belmont University College of Law, where she served as Executive Symposium Editor for the Belmont Law Review and participated in the American Inn of Court and the Criminal Law Society. While in law school, she interned with Chancellor I’Ashea Myles, where she drafted bench memos and helped shape judicial opinions in cases involving emergency relief, contract disputes, state agency appeals, records requests, and other complex matters.

Before law school, Alicia spent nearly a decade in East Africa, where she worked in human resources, social work, and content strategy. From leading Uganda-based HR departments and policy reforms to scaling community-based programs for children with disabilities and special needs families and training local professionals, she developed a deep understanding of cross-cultural communication, advocacy, and systems-building.
