Tennessee’s most substantive medical cannabis bill of 2026 was sent to interim study in March, the start of a genuine, working review. Its Senate sponsor, Senator Ferrell Haile, intends to refine the 99-page amendment and bring it back in 2027.
This Litson Government Relations briefing walks through the amendment: patient eligibility, licensing, workplace protections, and reciprocity.
The study has moved to the fall calendar, and the hearing dates are set: Wednesday, September 30 and Thursday, October 1. The plan, still tentative: on Wednesday afternoon the Medical Cannabis Commission presents its recommendations, the 99-page amendment to SB0459. Thursday morning is set aside for interested parties to present their own recommendations, support, and concerns. An agenda will follow in the coming weeks.
There’s no public sign-up to testify. Presenter requests for October 1 are being gathered informally, and Litson Government Relations is submitting them on behalf of the businesses we represent. If you’d rather make your case directly, 1-on-1 meetings with your own legislators ahead of the hearings are an option we arrange as well. Either way, start with kelley@litson.co.
Tell us what the legislature or a state agency means for your business this year. We’ll walk you through how we’d approach it, what we’d track, and what engagement would look like session to session.
